Can Massage Make You Thin? by Linda Steele (as printed at www.ezinearticles.com)

Are you like me…not 100% satisfied with your body shape? As a massage therapist, I have worked on a lot of clients that have different body shapes and sizes. While in massage sessions, I am constantly asked by clients if massage can make them thin or can it get rid of my cellulite. At one time I use to laugh when asked this question and say “Wouldn’t that be nice if it could?”

That was then! I don’t laugh anymore.

First of all what is cellulite and why do we get it? Cellulite is the lumpy substance resembling cottage cheese that is commonly found on the thighs, stomach, and buttocks. Cellulite is actually a fancy name for collections of fat that push against the connective tissue beneath a person's skin, which causes the surface of the skin to dimple or pucker and look lumpy.

You can check to see if you have cellulite by pinching the skin around your upper thigh. If it looks a bit lumpy, you probably have it. And if you do have cellulite, you're definitely not alone: Most girls and women - and some men - have cellulite.

Several factors influence whether a person has cellulite and how much they have. Your genes, your gender, the amount of fat on your body, your age, and the thickness of your skin are all associated with the amount of cellulite you have or how visible it is.

Are you one of the many thousands that search for the next best thing in inch loss or cellulite reduction? You see ads for everything from liposuction, pills to various diets. What if I told you can you could loose inches and improve the appearance of cellulite by getting massage?

Well it is true! I have seen it work personally. I lost almost 19 inches in my lower abs, buttocks and upper legs (Zone 1) and over 14 inches in my arms, chest and upper abs (Zone 2). That is 33 inches in about 4 weeks. If you think that is just an anomaly, let me tell you about the clients that I have helped:

Client 003 lost 22 1/8 inches in Zone 1. Client 004 lost almost 31 inches in Zones 1 and 2. Client 006 lost 12 9/16 inches in Zone 1. Client 007 lost 12 3/8 inches in Zone 1. Client 008 lost 9 ½ inches in Zone 2. Client 010 lost 10 15/16 inches in Zone 1. Client 012 lost 13 ¼ inches in Zone 1. Client 013 lost 15 ¾ inches in Zone 2 and Client 014 lost 11 1/16 inches in Zone 1.

That is an average of 14 inches in as little as 4 weeks to 9 weeks. You can’t even do that at the gym working out a few hours a day.

How did we do it? Well, most of us did it with little or no exercise. We didn’t change our diet. Nor did we go to any extreme measures like surgery. Nope, we did it with massage. Really!

O.K. I won’t keep you in suspense any longer. The massage modality is called Lypossage and it was created by Charles Wiltsie, III. Lypossage is a combination of massage modalities that derive from physical therapy, including lymphatic drainage and deep tissue release.

Lypossage cleanses the body of stagnant, stalled lymphatic fluid (lymphodema) that can create the lumps and bulges we know as cellulite. The deeper Lypossage strokes break up adhesions under the skin that can contribute to the dimpled, uneven appearance of cellulite. Lypossage also tones the muscles, lifting and firming sagging tissue.

Would you like to achieve these same results? It is only a massage away.
